What you need

• An Apple Home hub (HomePod or Apple TV) — HSV won't run without one.
• iCloud+ — 1 camera on the 50 GB tier, up to 5 on the higher tiers.
• A camera that explicitly supports HSV — not every HomeKit camera does.

Why it's worth it

Privacy (clips analysed locally, stored encrypted), no vendor subscription, and face/package detection in the Home app. The trade-off: fewer compatible cameras and Apple-only.
